Baby legs

You know those darling little leg and arm warmers for little ones? Well, I think they are adorable and lovely for those cold Michigan winters. So I searched around online a bit and came up with a tutorial that was easy to read and follow. These little things are just to simple you can whip them out in 5 minutes!

I used ladies knee length socks now that Sweet Pea is bigger but when she was a little smaller the children sized knee socks were nice without being too long.

So find yourself some cute socks, pictured here I got at Joann Fabrics for Valentines' Day.
Then cut off the heel and toe of the socks. I really love the rotary cutter for this because it is quick and no worries if it isn't completely straight.
Then fold the part of the sock that was for the foot so that the wrong sides are together. Or in more words that the nice side is showing.
Then you are going to put the folded part around the length of the sock so that both the cut edges are together and facing the same direction. Then you are going to sew around the cut edges, don't forget to back stitch. I like to use a small zig zag since they will probably be tugged on a bit.
Ta da!
Then get your model to sit somewhat still and there you go.
I suppose if you are one of those skinny adults you could probably use these as arm warmers no problem. Here area few more we've had in the past. The first are the smaller socks.

Placemats or Pillows?

I'm picky about my couch pillows. We got a new couch in November (it was our Christmas gift to our selves with help from the Other Mother and Big Daddy (that would be my in laws) and it came with some pillows that are pretty ugly on one side.

So who wants to make cheap and easy throw pillows that do not require a sewing machine if you don't have one? Well this lady right here!

I found this tutorial online but can't remember where, because it is so simple I did not bookmark it! Speaking of which I just organized my bookmarks, whew that was a job! One of these days I'll share my favorite blogs with you all.

Here is the placemat before. Feel free to iron them at this point if you wish!
Then use the seam ripper and make a small hole (preferably where the tag was then you can get that ugly white out anyway) between the fabrics.

Then stuff it to your liking. I prefer a more firm pillow myself. When it is stuffed (use a chopstick, wooden spoon handle to get the corners) just sew it closed!

Done and done. I did say it was easy right?

Then I can even flip them over!

I've got visions of season pillows, watch out Easter egg shaped placemats. Those pictured I got at World Market because they have interesting prints and fun colors. I think I maybe paid $3 for each and some polyfil, so less than $12 for two cute pillows. Score!

Chocolate and peanut butter anyone?

We attempted brownie "cupcakes" with peanut butter frosting. Three small children and me that is.From L: Sweet Pea, Monsoon, Cyclone.

Why yes it was an adventure. I will say that I was quite distracted and messed up the recipe but it didn't turn out too bad, I also baked them a little bit too long. Ah well, guess I'm not cut out for having three small ones close in age. The frosting was delicious though.

Here is the recipe. My pictures were a fail though, sorry!

The first

I've had blogs before, I'm no new hand but I would like a try at a blog with a purpose. You see, I love to craft, sew, cook, and bake. I'm also a newish parent which means I have someone other than just The Mr. to do these things for. I love trolling blogs and learning how to do/make/eat things I've never have before. Maybe I can teach someone something. Possibly I can entertain you with pictures and stories about my family.

The blog may or may not take a definite direction but it should be an adventure anyway.

If you don't get around to here I'll give you the short of it. I'm Jillian a 20something living in mid-Michigan, I have an almost 2 year old daughter, "Sweet Pea" and a lovely husband, "The Mr.". Thanks for coming!
